    Early Holiday Baking With Portmeirion

For many, the arrival of the holiday season is synonymous with a pristine kitchen filled with delicious baked goods a la Martha Stewart. So with Thanksgiving around the corner, it’s time for us to experiment with favorites like cinnamon rolls, pumpkin bread, sugar cookies, cranberry muffins, and yes, even fruitcake. But try as we might, our kitchen will never be as immaculate throughout the baking process as those color-coordinated counter tops of the celebrity chefs.

But this year, with the help of British based pottery company Portmeirion Pottery and their newest partnership with interior designer and celebrated food writer, Sophie Conran, our kitchen might just be a bit more festive. Sophie Conran and Portmeirion have together crafted a beautiful collection of cookware, tableware and home accessories – all designed for the modern day home-chef. This winning collection uniquely marries Sophie’s love of food, design with Portmeirion’s eye for versatile pottery.

The collection is designed to be multi-functional, merging elegant tableware pieces with cook-ready efficiency. These oven-to-tableware pieces look as beautiful on the table as they are practical in the kitchen. The Set of 4 Measuring Cups and Set of 4 Measuring Spoons that we received morphed effortlessly into serving pieces once filled with pretzels and mixed nuts.

The Set of Measuring Cups includes one each of the 1-cup, 1/2-cup, 1/3-cup and 1/4-cup cups. The set of Measuring Spoons are typical, including the tablespoon, 1/2 tablespoon, teaspoon and 1/2 teaspoon. The handwritten amounts on the inside of each piece acts as a nice ornamentation as well as a reminder of the size of the cup. Remember that each cup is only accurate if filled to the very top!

These pieces are cleverly designed to be multi-functional and are indeed easy to handle, stack and store. They are delicate  to the touch, yet highly durable, each piece is able to withstand some solid wear & tear. Each piece of porcelain is able to withstand countless trips from the dishwasher to the microwave, the freezer to the oven. This ensures that you’ll use them often without worrying about them losing their beautiful ceramic glaze or the dainty handwritten measurements.

In addition, the pieces come beautifully packaged in a gift box ready to give as a wedding or housewarming gift. The sophisticated gift, with eye-catching wrapping is the perfect gift for a new home.

Set of 4 measuring cups and spoons are available online for $22 and $24 respectively.
